All high school graduates are eligible to attend community college. Application forms and information are available in the Counseling Office and Career Center. CSU & UC COLLEGES University of California has 9 campuses, and California State University has 23 campuses. Both have excellent academic programs and are cost effective in comparison to private or for-profit colleges. State colleges are competitive, and the minimum requirements do not guarantee acceptance. A-G / CSU & UC REQUIREMENTS ACT w/ writing or SAT C or better in the following courses English: 4 years Mathematics: 3 years / 4 years for UC US History/Government: 2 years Laboratory Science: 2 years / 3 years for UC Foreign Language: 2 years / 3 years for UC Visual & Performing Arts: 1 year College Preparatory Electives: 1 year UC: Personal Insight Questions Applications are due November 30th PRIVATE COLLEGES & UNIVERSITIES Private schools often have similar requirements to the state colleges. PAYING FOR COLLEGEFAFSA
Many opportunities for financial aid are available. All applicants should complete the Free Federal Application for Financial Student Aid (FAFSA) by March 1st. The application process opens January 1st. Students must complete a GPA Verification Form waiver before March 1st in order to be considered for the California Grant. Visit the counseling office for more information. CALIFORNIA DREAM ACT / AB540 State-based financial aid, scholarships, and conditional resident status for undocumented students. GRANTS AND SCHOLARSHIPS This is money you do not have to pay back and is available from many sources. Check with your counselor, senior teachers, or the college you plan to attend to inquire about available grants and scholarships. |
