GENERAL
CAASP- the state SBAC (Smarter Balanced) exams are given to all juniors across the state. Students are tested on computers in the core subject areas math and English. The tests are given at school during the spring of each year.
CELDT- California English Language Development Test is administered annually to English language learner students between July 1st and October 15th. It measures a student’s language classification.
EAP & EPT / ELM - The Early Assessment Program is given to all juniors and is embedded into the SBAC exam. It measures students’ readiness for college-level math and English. The goal of the EAP is to ensure that high school graduates enter CSU prepared to begin college-level study.
MANDATORY 4-YEAR COLLEGE ADMISSIONS & HA STUDENTS
ACT & SAT 1 - Nationally recognized tests that evaluate students and required for most 4-year colleges/universities. While similar, it's important to take both at the end of the junior year and beginning of senior year. Students must register online and pay a fee. Eligible students may qualify for a fee waiver. See the counseling secretary or counselors for more information.
PSAT- A preliminary SAT for college-bound sophomores and juniors. Juniors who score exceedingly well are considered for the National Merit Scholarship.
OPTIONAL FOR STUDENTS ENROLLED IN AP CLASSES
AP (Advanced Placement) Exams- AP exams are given during the month of May. Most universities will allow college credit for AP Exams with scores of 4 or 5. There is a fee. See your AP teacher or counselor for more information.
